How we got there

Decimals may be rounded to eight places; rupee amounts to two.

    A little understanding

Let’s make the numbers make sense.

A discount is a percentage you keep

For a ₹1,500 item with 20% off, the saving is ₹1,500 × 20 ÷ 100 = ₹300. Subtract the saving from the original price to get ₹1,200. You pay 80% of the original amount.

    Sale price = original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100)

This tool applies one percentage discount. It does not add delivery, taxes, platform fees or bank offers. Currency results are rounded for display; the retailer’s final bill may differ.

    Are two discounts added together?

Usually they are applied one after another. A 20% discount followed by 10% off the reduced price gives a total discount of 28%, not 30%. Use the first sale price as the next original price.

    Does the calculator include GST?

No tax rate is assumed. The calculator reduces the price you enter by the discount you enter. Check the seller’s bill for tax treatment and any other charges.

Can the discount be more than 100%?

This calculator accepts discounts from 0% to 100%. A 100% discount makes the calculated item price zero.
